Kuala Lumpur Interbank Offered Rate (KLIBOR) was introduced in June 1987 as an official indicator of the conditions in the interbank money market.
The rates that the KLIBOR submitters quote for KLIBOR setting indicate the rates that they are willing to lend ringgit funds for the relevant tenors to interbank players and are mainly used as reference for other products such as the floating leg of interest rate swaps, options, futures and structured products.
Bank Negara Malaysia has appointed 11 banking institutions listed below to be KLIBOR submitters for the period beginning 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024. The KLIBOR submitters are expected to adhere to the KLIBOR Rate Setting Standards issued by Bank Negara Malaysia which encapsulates the KLIBOR submitters's key obligations and internal governance principles, among others. Additionally, Refinitiv, formerly known as Thomson Reuters Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has been appointed as the designated KLIBOR distributor which is responsible to compile, calculate and disseminate KLIBOR rates.
